AAHP-UK Vice Chair, has participated in Afghan Women’s Rights Event at the Houses of Parliament, London

On behalf of the AAHP-UK, Dr Enayat Modasser, the Vice Chair, has participated in Afghan Women’s Rights event at the Houses of Parliament in London. The event was organised by the Afghanistan and Central Asia Association. Around 100 people from different organisations participated including the civil societies, research institutions, United Nations and DFID .  Though it was a broad topic, Enayat has briefed the audience on Women’s health rights and the role of symmetrical and balanced development across the sectors/institutions which potentially contribute to women’s access to health and promotion. Enayat has also briefed the audience about a research that the AAHP-UK has started jointly with the King’s College London on Mental Health challenges among Afghan asylum seekers in the UK with an aim to influence policies for the advantages of Afghan community. In a side discussion with Liz Mcinnes MP and Shadow Foreign Minister, Enayat explored an opportunity of holding an event on Afghanistan’s health challenges in the Houses of Parliament-UK. The association will update about arranging this event in due course.
